practice mode · virtual £1,000

Try it with virtual money first.

Any tool that wants access to your brokerage account should let you watch it work first. A practice mode runs the real decision engine against real market data and simulates the fills, so you get to judge the thing that matters, which is whether its reasoning is something you would have agreed with. Not every practice mode is honest, so it is worth knowing what to look for.

What makes a practice mode worth trusting.

01

Same engine, not a demo

The reason to run practice is to evaluate the real thing. If the demo uses a simplified strategy or a canned dataset, you are watching an advert. blank's practice mode runs the identical advisor on live market data.

02

Realistic fills

A simulator that fills every order instantly at the exact price you asked for is flattering itself. Real trading has spread and slippage, and a practice mode that ignores them will always look better than the live product.

03

A believable balance

Practising with a virtual million teaches you nothing about position sizing on the account you actually have. blank starts practice at a virtual £1,000, which is closer to how a real beta user begins.

04

A journal you can read

The output that matters is not the profit and loss. It is the record of why it did each thing, which is what you are really evaluating.

How blank's practice mode works.

It is the same advisor, the same research pipeline, the same risk engine, and the same chat panel. The only difference is the broker: instead of sending orders to Trading 212, it sends them to an internal paper broker with a virtual £1,000 balance and simulated fills. Prices are real and live.

You can run it for as long as your plan is active, ask it why it is holding something, read the reasoning it wrote at entry, and watch how it behaves in a drawdown. When you are ready you paste a Trading 212 API key and flip the live toggle. Nothing else changes.

The thing practice mode cannot teach you.

How you will feel. Watching a virtual balance fall is not the same experience as watching your own money fall, and people who are calm in practice are not always calm live. That is not a flaw in the simulation; it is a fact about humans, and it is the reason blank's risk limits are hard rails the advisor cannot override rather than suggestions you can talk yourself out of.

Being straight about one more thing: after the free week, practice mode is part of the paid product. It follows your plan, so an account without an active week or subscription gets neither live trading nor practice.

Questions people actually ask.

Which AI investing tools offer a practice or paper trading mode?

Most reputable ones do in some form. What varies is whether the practice mode runs the real engine on live data or a simplified demo. blank's practice mode runs the identical advisor on real market data against an internal paper broker with a virtual £1,000.

Is blank's practice mode free?

It is during your first seven days, which are free for anyone signing up before 1 September 2026. After that practice follows your plan, so it needs an active trading week or subscription.

Does practice mode use real market prices?

Yes. Prices and market data are live. Only the broker is simulated, with an internal paper account and simulated fills.

How do I switch from practice to live?

Paste a Trading 212 API key and flip the live toggle. The advisor, research pipeline and risk engine are identical in both modes.
